A welcoming room in the heart of The Grand Hotel, the Lounge offers the opportunity to step back in time to a more opulent period, with polished wood panels, high bright windows, and a lovely view of York's historic city walls.

The Lounge provides a warm and inviting environment for entertaining your friends or business delegates, or simply for visiting to enjoy our exclusive range of drams. Our Grape, Grain and Cane menu presents an outstanding selection of drinks to tantalise you, including Eaux de Vie, ten Whiskys, thirty Cognacs and Armagnacs, twenty sipping rums and ten aged Tequilas. Step up to our cabinet and choose your favourite tipple, and then relax in the plush surroundings and admire the beautiful views.

All our drams are served in Whisky snifters to enhance the scent and taste of the beverages. You will be invited up to the cabinet to make your selection, guided if required by our knowledgeable bar staff. If you are unsure of which drink to choose, we'll invite you to sniff a selection to help your decision-making! The Whisky Lounge features a range of books about Whisky to tell you more about our delightful range. Whether your choice is classic Scotch aged in Port barrels, or you prefer the more caramel tastes of an Irish single malt aged in Sherry-tinged oak casks, you'll be sure to find your perfect drink in our welcoming and exclusive Lounge.

If you are a cigar enthusiast, we'll offer you a selection of outstanding examples from our antique oak humidor, situated in the Whisky lounge. Once you have chosen your cigar, we will lead you through to the picturesque garden terrace and cut it for you, lighting it if required. Our humidor is run in accordance to the training we have received from Hunters & Frankau, which ensures we house our tobacco at exactly the right temperature and humidity to retain the excellent flavours and delicate texture of the cigars.
